The 2009 Dodge Challenger will join in the 40th anniversary celebration of the 1968 Hemi packages by receiving an honorable treatment to a special Mopar drag package. The package is set to include a myriad of undisclosed race and off-road parts all centered around the premise of increasing the output of the latest generation Hemi V8 engines. Other accessory parts will be offered with the package to dress up the cars a few notches above average. Additionally, a limited number of Dodge Challenger Drag Racing package cars are to be produced. The clock is ticking and we are just as anxious as you are to hear more and more about this modern day Mopar muscle car. |

Fans of the past Dodge Challenger were able to get their tooling hands on many aftermarket performance parts--the upcoming Dodge HEMI forecast looks like a good chance of continuing the fun. Performance pieces for the 5.7 liter, 6.1 liter, and the 392ci engines are flowing onto the stream and will likely sell like hotcakes. Even MagnaFlow is set to provide some exhaust systems for the HEMI beast. Forged crankshafts, connecting rods, and camshaft are going to be ready for the HEMI powered machines on (and soon to hit) the streets. CNC-ported cylinder heads for all three Dodge HEMI powerplants will be able to handle camshafts with valve lifts of up to .600"! The folks over on Muscle Car News gave us the scoop, so head over there to check out the full story. If we hear more, we'll surely be here to let you know about it! |

Bucking the norm of exhibiting customizations to production vehicles at SEMA, Dodge decided to show off some tasteful customizations to a concept vehicle. The Dodge Challenger Super Stock Concept is a direct derivative of the Dodge Challenger concept we've all been hearing about. Its main objective--to pay homage to the original 392ci HEMI engine by boasting an all-new 392ci HEMI crate motor. This all-new crate HEMI is available in three flavors: a carbureted version producing 540 hp / 490 lb-ft of torque, an EFI twist that has an output of 525 hp / 510 lb-ft of torque, and finally, a long block setup. Take a closer look at the car (below) as well as all of the technical specifications (from the official Press Release). If we hear anything more on this new HEMI heat, we'll be sure to let you know. |
