The Chrysler Group feels the business case is too strong to ignore for turning the Dodge Challenger concept into a reality. The plan, as it stands now, is to have (market) segmented volume, a V8 HEMI powerplant, and a price tag just above the Ford Mustang. Despite concerns about rising fuel prices, Joe Eberhardt (Executive Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing) feels the concerns are a factor in a lot of our discussions. I wouldn't say (that) with Challenger because that is going to be a car probably for the enthusiast - probably a second or third car, probably not competing with everyday transportation." Eberhardt continued. |

So it seems that the Challenger will be produced in late 2008 as a 2009 model. Now we are all well aware of the potential power plants for the upcoming Challenger, what we do not know is the potential asking price or how close to the concept the actual production car will look. Given Daimler Chrysler's past concept that became production models, this writer can rest knowing it will likely stay true to form. |

Is this a case of "ask and you shall receive"? Eric Ridenour, Chrysler's COO is hinting towards that very concept. "If gasoline is $4 a gallon and the market said this would be a great business case, we could do it," said Ridenour. "If the market says it is not, then we probably won't." If you like the Challenger (chances are that you di if you are reading this), use your voice and according to Ridenour, they will listen. Read more at Automotive News

The roar of exhaust from a 6.1L HEMI V8 signifies the triumphant return of the Dodge Challenger (Well, in concept form anyway). Looking much like the beloved 70s Challengers, this concept sports the classic good looks coupled with all the modern goodies that we have all grown accustom to. After a few words from Chryslers senior vice president of design Trevor Creed, the Challenger's introduction concludes with the same exhaust roar that grabbed our attention in the introduction. Not ever having owned a Chrysler product, if built, this could be my first! |
