Not to be outdone by the Mopar masters themselves, the outstanding "Overhaulin'" brainchild, Chip Foose, has partnered up with Unique Performance (based in Texas) to build a limited production collection of Challengers based upon the concept on the TV show. The cars, from 1970 & 1971, will have even more capability than the version previously seen, housing one of two HEMI engines under the hood (either the 347 or the 426 cubic inch engines). A TKO 5-speed and a Unique Performance rear will take the power to the pavement over the 18-inch wheels that mimic the 20-inch Foose wheels the TV version of the car has. The response to our Foose 69 Camaro was fantastic, which led to an outpouring of requests for a similar car from MOPAR fans, said Unique Performance President and CEO Douglas Hasty. Our 1970 Challenger program is designed to fulfill those wishes with a very, very small run of an even more exclusive MOPAR. Working with Chip, our team will turn a handful of these vintage muscle cars into pink slip winning, Z06 eating supercars. So, if the 2009 Challenger doesn't make it to market, enthusiasts can still turn to another outlet to get a hold of a classic.
